Tulips, Wings & a Little Patience

Skagit Valley’s farmland is known for its beautiful tulip fields. Every April, the farmers’ work becomes a colorful attraction, bringing visitors from near and far to see rows and rows of blooms stretching across the valley.

Fall brings another beautiful sight: snow geese gathering by the thousands. They spend the colder months here, generally arriving in October and staying into April, before heading north to their breeding grounds on Russia’s Wrangel Island. Watching them move in waves across the farmland is something special—a sea of white that suddenly lifts into the sky.

I wanted to combine these two familiar sights in one painted rock. This one is about the size of my hand, and it took plenty of time and patience! But I enjoyed the challenge. I love painting rocks, learning new things, and seeing what I can create.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What part of Skagit Valley would you put on a rock?
