On the Road

After 40 years as a professional photographer and 27 years teaching, I’ve retired from the classroom and hit the road in my RV with my dogs. Along the way, I’m capturing the beauty of nature, people, and places across the USA West Coast. Follow my On the Road gallery for new images and visit my blog (to come) for stories from my travels.

The first stop on my retirement journey... and what a peaceful,

soul-filling beginning it's been.

Everywhere we go, Mount Rainier watches over us—sometimes bold, sometimes hazy

—but always grounding. From quiet lake mornings to muddy dog paws and crackling fireworks over the water, SeaTac has been the perfect place to exhale.

I'm endlessly grateful to my sons, Cheyne and Michael, for helping me pack up a lifetime in Los Angeles and launch this new chapter with strength and laughter.

Their support got me on the road, and their belief keeps me moving forward.

One of the highlights? Exploring Mount Rainier with my dear friend Desiree Snellman-an unforgettable day of hiking, laughter, and awe.

The dogs are settling into RV life beautifully, and so am I. This is only the beginning, but it already feels like coming home.

Last night's celebration at Angle Lake RV Resort was everything I needed to kick off this new chapter. A community BBQ, a gorgeous firework display over the lake, and reflections that made for some truly stunning images

Starting off my retirement right here in SeaTac, WA — surrounded by new friends, my sweet dogs, and my son Cheyne.

Feeling grateful, grounded, and ready for whatever comes next.

Coast and Kip cooling off at the Devil's Punch Bowl at Crescent Lake

This spot was pure magic—crystal-clear water, peaceful trails, and two happy pups living their best life. We've had some perfect PNW weather this summer and have been chasing waterfalls, hiking forest trails, and playing on beaches. I'm behind on posting all our adventures, so l'll start with the stars of the show today.

Elwha Dam RV Park – Port Angeles, WA

Dates: July 12 – July 18

This morning just north of Brinnon, WA, I stumbled upon what felt like nature's hidden amphitheater.

A gathering of bald eagles, juvenile eagles, turkey vultures, and even a Great Blue Heron all converging in one wild, coastal moment.

At the center of the scene—a dramatic show of dominance and sharing among bald eagles, each taking turns (some less politely than others) over what appeared to be an octopus carcass. Wings flared, talons gripping, young eagles watching and learning—it was raw, real, and unforgettable.

I set out hoping to spot just one eagle.

Instead, I got an entire cast of characters. The Pacific Northwest continues to surprise and inspire every step of the way.

One month in—and these two are living their best RV life!

Coast and Kipling have been the ultimate travel companions as we explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest together.

From chasing waterfalls to sniffing out hidden trails, they've embraced every twist and turn of this journey with joy, curiosity, and loyalty.

We've learned the art of slow mornings, wild zoomies, lakeside naps, and being fully present in nature. Here's to more muddy paws, wagging tails, and adventures ahead.

Heading to:

Lake Sawyer RV Resort – Black Diamond, WA

Dates: July 27 – August 1

This morning at the Everett marina | watched a female Osprey return from a successful hunt with a salmon clutched in her talons.Instead of bringing it straight to the nest, she landed on her perch first — a classic raptor behavior — to ensure the fish was dispatched and prepared before delivering it to her chick. Once satisfied, she carried the catch to the nest, where I watched the chick mantle and vocalize while she tore strips of flesh to feed it.

The combination of strength, precision, and maternal care was incredible to witness. Nature never fails to amaze.

A perfect day out on

Fir Island with my friend Desiree Snellman and her sweet pup Vista! Coast, Kip, and I loved showing them one of our favorite spots in the

Mount Vernon area.

We were treated to an incredible show of wildlife - hawks, eagles, geese, vultures, and even a graceful blue heron.

The dogs had the best time running wild on the flower-filled trails and splashing along the beach, and of course they struck a few poses

for the camera along the way.

Nothing better than good friends, happy dogs, and a beautiful place to explore.

Seaside, Oregon Photography Workshop - September 2025

Even though I'm a bit behind on editing, couldn't wait to share a few of my favorites from the workshop I attended in Seaside, Oregon. These images capture the spirit of the dogs I photographed on the beach and in the forest — each one telling its own little story through movement, light, and emotion. This small collection is just a glimpse of what I captured

during that inspiring week.

I love pairing my images with music - it brings them to life and turns them into a visual story. That's what I love most about photography: the storytelling that happens in every frame.

Waikiki Beach, Washington

While staying in Seaside, Oregon, I decided to take a spontaneous drive across the Astoria-Megler Bridge—the longest continuous truss bridge in North America—to visit Waikiki Beach at Cape Disappointment State Park.

Coast and Kip had the best time running wild, climbing on rocks, and splashing in the surf. It wasn't my favorite time of day for light, but the waves definitely made up for it!

Fun fact: this little beach was named after a Hawaiian sailor whose ship wrecked near the Columbia River Bar in the 1800s-so it's not the tropical Waikiki, but it sure has its own rugged magic.

If you've never been, put it on your list-it's a must-see!
